"Meet the icelandic horse" - Icelandic horse shows in Skagafjordur
- Where the history and horses meet -
A horse show and farm visit for 1 - 1 1/2 hours, depending on the group´s schedule.
The family will introduce the Icelandic horse and show its versatility in action. It differs from other races of horses in that it has got five gaits:
Apart from the walk, trot and jump there are the tolt and the flying pace. You will be shown
some of the results of the family´s horse breeding as well as gaining an insight into the daily life on an ordinary Icelandic farm. You will get a short presentation of the history of the Icelandic horse and its importance in modern Iceland. Also a brief history of the farm and how its name is connected to the first horse race known to have been held in the country.
Included: Coffee or tea and homemade biscuits and bread.
Light lunch available on request.
